Evidence seized during the arrest of Bach.
On Friday, September 6, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Officer Owen Bowers of the Salem Police Department observed a vehicle committing multiple infractions and initiated a traffic stop. After approaching the driver, Officer Bowers detected the smell of marijuana and conducted a records check, which revealed the driver had a suspended license.
Sergeant Moore and Captain Cauble from the Salem Police Department arrived to assist, and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, officers found a bag under the driver’s seat containing a substantial amount of methamphetamine, heroin, a hypodermic needle, and two bags of pills. Additionally, a loaded .45 caliber handgun was discovered on the driver’s side floorboard, and two digital scales were located in a backpack in the backseat.
Officers then transported Johnathon Bach, 36, of Jeffersonville, to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was booked in on the following charges:
Dealing in methamphetamine – Level 2 Felony
Possession of methamphetamine – Level 3 Felony
Possession of cocaine/narcotic drug – Level 3 Felony
Possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon – Level 4 Felony
Possession of a narcotic – Level 5 Felony
Possession of a hypodermic needle – Level 6 Felony
Driving while suspended prior – Class A Misdemeanor
Operating a vehicle without financial responsibility with a prior conviction – Class C Misdemeanor
