Dennis R. Simpson
Mr. Dennis R. Simpson, age 83, of Salem, passed away Saturday, August 24 at Meadowview Health & Rehab.
Mr. Simpson was born February 19, 1941 in Washington County, the son of Ernest and Gladys M. Bowers Simpson.
He was a United States Army Veteran and served in the Army National Guard. He retired from Leader Publishing Company after 30 years.
Dennis was a member of Turning Point Christian Church. He was a former member of Salem Masonic Lodge #21, and Knights of Phythias.
He is preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Patricia Ann Monroe. He later married Clorinda “Kitty” Bland Simpson, who also proceeded him in death, along with his son, Timothy Wayne Simpson; two brothers, Robert L. Simpson and Orville W. Simpson; a sister, Neva S. Melton; and his parents.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Jo Howard of Salem, Denise McNew (Ronnie) of Pekin, and Marte Miller (Brent) of Salem; six grandchildren, Chelsea Cobb, Trenton Miller, Caleb McNew, Peyton Medlock, Trevon Miller, and Triston Miller; three great-grandchildren, Desmond Cobb, Everly Cobb, and Ace McNew; and a sister-in-law, Ellen Simpson of Richmond, VA.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m.-until time of service.
