Doris Sanders, Salem, won a blue ribbon at the Kentucky State Fair for a seamless christening gown she knitted.
WLKY sportscaster Fred Cowgill joined Salem High School marching band after an invitation from freshman Adam Morris, who wrote a letter as part of the stations "I Challenge Fred" series. Morris who plays baritone saxophone in the band challenged Cowgill to march with the Lions.
The Eastern Musketeer boys' varsity tennis team opened their season with a home win against Springs Valley. The final score of the match was 4-1.
Chris Adkins of Salem attended a session of Camp Riley for Youth with Physical Disabilities. Adkins, who has spina bifida, is 12 and attends West Washington Elementary School.
State Trooper Joe Hall began duties in Washington County. Hall, of Bedford, replaces Trooper Stacy Brown who has transferred to Bloomington.
