On Tuesday, February 18, at approximately 7:15 a.m., members of emergency services were dispatched to the area of 4357 Becks Mill Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma and a 2018 Polaris UTV.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the roadway was blocked as both vehicles were still sitting on the roadway.
Driver statements and evidence at the scene indicate Asher Elrod, age 19 of Vallonia, Indiana was traveling southbound on Becks Mill Road while Brian Gream, age 60 of Campbellsburg, Indiana was traveling northbound on Becks Mill Road. Elrod's truck slid left of center on the snow covered roadway and collided with the left front corner of Gream's UTV. Gream had to be extricated from the UTV by members of the Salem Fire Department. Gream was then transported to University of Louisville Hospital by the Washington County Ambulance Service for treatment of his injuries. Elrod was not injured.
Captain Joe Keltner is the lead investigator and was assisted by Lt. Wayne Blevins, members of the Salem Fire Department and the Washington County Ambulance Service.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
